A finished page, not just a nice background
Most tools give you a background and leave you to typeset the dishes and prices yourself in another program — a step most people cannot do. This lays all the text into the image for you.
Check every price before printing
This step cannot be skipped. Image models still get numbers and letters wrong, and a menu with a wrong price is a front-of-house problem you cannot fix once it is printed. Read every line against what you entered.
Preparing food photos
Overhead or three-quarter angles in natural light, with the whole plate visible, work best. Photos taken in the restaurant at night under warm lighting tend to make the food look less appetising than it is.
